As
Catholics, our spiritual lives have revolved around a parish church, from our
baptism through the important milestones of our youth and adulthood. Now, by
different paths we have traveled from other areas of the country to Precious
Blood of Christ Church, and it is here at our “parish by the sea” that many of
us will complete not only our spiritual but also our physical journey on earth.
To be able to remain close to our chosen parish church when we finish this
journey, to know that our earthly remains will be in a place where family and
friends can visit and pray is a comforting thought.
This is the Columbarium at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church.
With the completion of the Parish Life Center, our Columbarium was moved to its
permanent location at the head of our beautiful lake. It is a serene site,
landscaped with peace and tranquility in mind, where a statue of Jesus welcomes
our beloved dead in to His Heavenly Kingdom. Soon, we will add a prayer walk
around the lake with the Stations of the Cross so family and friends can
meditate.
We invite our parishioners to consider purchasing a Columbarium license which,
at $2,000, includes a niche suitable for two urns, engraving on the niche cover
and perpetual care. At present there are 336 niches in the Columbarium circle
which are available to all parishioners and to others with the approval of our
Pastor. While it is intended to be used by Catholics only, non-Catholic spouses
of parishioners can be accepted with approval of the Pastor. After a funeral
Mass the urn is taken to the Columbarium where a traditional grave site ceremony
is conducted.
License fees and income from their investment pay for Columbarium expenses and
upkeep; the parish bears no costs. Our Financial Committee oversees the
Columbarium and sends periodic financial statements to the Pastor and members of
the Columbarium Committee.
If you would like to receive more information about the Columbarium and
providing for your final resting place at Precious Blood of Christ Church,
please review the material below and call the Parish Secretary at 237-3428. A
member of the Columbarium Committee will then contact you to answer your
questions.
