Baptism gives all of His disciples a share in His priestly work and calls them

The January Ultreya will be held at St. Michael’s parish Center on Monday, January 12 at 7:00 PM. We will be welcoming the Cursillistas and potential candidates for the scheduled March Weekend from St. James in Conway. Join us to welcome them.

RESPECT LIFE
Standup for Life Rally January 17
The Standup for Life Rally will be held in Columbia on Saturday, January 17, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There will be a carpool of mainly Knights of Columbus from the Precious Blood leaving at about 7:00 AM. Anyone interested in getting a ride or driving can contact the office at 237-3428, extension 3 (Kate Russell).
A bus sponsored by Grand Strand Citizens for Life will pick up at the Walmart on highway 544 at 6:30 AM. For reservations, call Susan Mevissen at 488-0428. Adults are $15, and children (12 and under) ride free.

FATHER PAT’S LUNCH
KITCHEN has a new logo! It was unveiled at Fr. Pat’s 70th birthday
celebration last weekend.
We opened for the New Year last Wednesday, and served 66 people a meal of Pizza, Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad, Tossed Green Salad, Cole Slaw, and Cake for dessert. On Thursday we served 40 people Ham & Cheese Sandwiches, Tossed Green Salad, Cole Slaw and Cake.
We thank everyone who helps to make these meals a pleasure for all who come.
Just
a reminder…the
second Sunday of each month is our food drive for the Baskervill Ecumenical
Food Pantry. Precious Blood is responsible for spaghetti and spaghetti
sauce. There is a basket in the gathering space where you can leave your
donations at any time. This is a way we can come together as a community to
help those in need. Thank you for your generosity.

PBOC's Men's Group
REMINDER! This Sunday, January 11, PBOC's Men's Group will host its initial gathering at the PLC from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Come join us for an afternoon of NFL football and fellowship.

“Warm up Pawleys Auction Night"
Come one, come all!! Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Starting at 6:30 PM, bring in items to be auctioned, preview what you would like to bid on, get your snacks/beverages. Keep out those Christmas gifts you’d like to re-gift, decorations, wall pictures, vases, etc. you’re planning on changing to redecorate, jewelry, household items, dishes, kitchen items, kids things, games, etc. - come on YFIF! Please be sure it is clean, not used or ever so slightly used, in the condition you would expect something to be in for you to purchase. The ‘auctioneer” and her committee will use their discretion as to whether something is auctionable or not. Any items not sold, will be taken back by the owner. There will be light snacks and beverages available - some complimentary - some by donation.
This is a
first-time event, and we look forward to the support of our members and the
parish community for a couple of hours of fun for a good cause. All
proceeds will be given to the Outreach Committee, designated for a family in
the Pawleys Island community in need of help with utility bills.

Fashion Show Sponsors Needed - The Women’s Club is eagerly planning our annual fashion show, which will be held this year at Pawleys Plantation on Saturday, March 21. It will again benefit many less fortunate in our community as well as our parish. In this year of uncertain economic climate, your support in the way of sponsorships - as well as attendance - would be greatly appreciated. Details regarding the event’s previous grant recipients and forms for sponsorship will be in the carousel for events fliers located in the church narthex.
The next Board Meeting is Thursday, January 22, 2009.

AARP SAFE DRIVING COURSE sponsored by PBOC Church, Knights of Columbus and Conway National Bank will be given at Founders Hall on Monday & Tuesday (February 2nd & 3rd) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Attendance is required for both days. Class is limited, so advance registration is required. Normal fees are $12.00 for AARP members and $14.00 for non-members. Our co-sponsor, Conway National Bank, will pay a $5.00 portion of the course fee, so your actual cost is $7.00 or $9.00 per person. Registration applications are available at the church office. diocesan news VOCATIONS - The Diocese of Charleston and Oratory are sponsoring a discernment retreat January 29, 2009 – February 1, 2009 at the Oratory in Rock Hill. The retreat will allow participants to discern a possible vocation to the priesthood, diaconate or religious life. Men and women ages 18 – 55 are eligible. The Diocese of Charleston will sponsor its Ninth Annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration on February 15, 2009 to celebrate all Catholic marriages in South Carolina.
