MCHH01873_0000[1]QUILTS OF VALOR

A group of parishioners have been busy making quilt tops for our wounded heroes, hospitalized in Veteran’s hospitals, from wounds received in Afghanistan and Iraq.

We have a supply of donated quilting fabric available to any quilter, or anyone interested in learning to quilt.  If you would be interested in helping with this ministry of gratitude to our servicemen and women, please join us in Founders Hall on Tuesday, March 24th at 10:00 AM.  A local quilt expert and I will put together enough fabric for a 50” x 60” top and give you an easy suggested pattern.  Any questions please call:  Helen Faulstich 843-235-2713 or email: helheljer@yahoo.com.

j0324816BOOK & GIFT SHOP:  The book “Catholic Diocese of Charleston – A History” is available for purchase in our Book & Gift Shop and in the parish office.  It is the latest record of Catholicism in South Carolina in a beautiful hard-cover book with glossy full-color pages.  Precious Blood’s history is on page 221.  This book would be a great addition to your home library.  The price is $30 (our cost).

“You shall not covet” is perhaps a difficult commandment to keep in our consumer-oriented society.  But as Christian stewards, we know that we are the recipients and caretakers of God’s many gifts.  May this understanding that all is gift help us be less resentful of the gifts of others.

DIOCESAN NEWS

ASK A PRIEST

What about…?  Why does the Church…?  I wish I could go to Communion but…  It really hurt me when Father So-and-So told my daughter such-and-such 20 years ago and we haven’t been to church since… So many people have so many questions, doubts, fears, misunderstandings, old wounds…  More often than we may realize, a chance to talk about the matter can lead to a surprisingly satisfactory resolution and the path home to the Catholic Church for hurting people.  As an evangelization outreach, St. James of Conway’s Parish Pastoral Council is sponsoring a two-night phone-in “Ask a Priest” outreach.  Anyone can anonymously call and speak with a priest about whatever is on their mind. This is being done especially as an outreach to Catholics or inactive Catholics, but of course all callers will be welcomed.  Do you—or someone you know—have issues with the Catholic Church?  Spread the news of this invitation to ASK A PRIEST.

                            Sunday, March 22 – 4:00 to 7:00 PM

                            Monday, March 23 – 6:00 to 8:00 PM

During these hours, phone the following numbers to ASK A PRIEST:  843-347-1212 OR 843-347-5276.

EWTN - for schedules of daily events and for Holy Week go to: www.ewtn.com.

Reminder:  POLISH MASS – Mass will be celebrated in Polish by Fr. Marcin Zachuta on March 22 (4th Sunday of Lent) at 2:00 PM at St. Thomas More Center – USC located on 1610 Greene Street, Columbia, SC.

LOCAL NEWS

Next week, representatives of the Christian Catholic Families of Bethlehem will be outside church after Masses selling Crucifixes, religious art work, and rosaries – all made of olive wood which is native to Israel and Bethlehem.  Since Tourism has greatly depleted, Christian families in the holy land, who depend on tourists, have been greatly affected.  Sale of these goods will help them very much and also give you the opportunity to have “something’ authentic from the holy land.  Please browse and buy some articles.  It is for a good cause and also a help to your personal devotion.

Prayer Corner

Pray With Us…

O God, have mercy on my selfish and cowardly heart. Most generous God, send your Holy Spirit and refashion it.  Touch me and let my heart awaken. Give me a heart

that knows how to be bold and daring in its love.

A heart that gives without counting the cost.  A

heart pure and simple like that of a child.

O God, give me a repentant heart.   Amen
