In the second reading today, St. James has harsh words for
those who do not put their faith into action.
May we be such good stewards of God’s giffts to us that we can never be
accused of having “faith that does nothing in practice.”
(See James 2:17)

The
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) will begin at PBOC in mid-September. All adults interested in joining the Catholic
Church are invited to attend this program of information, prayer and
discernment that culminates with reception into the Church at Easter.
The
RCIA is marked by classes on the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church,
by individual counseling, and by special liturgical rites by which the person
electing to join the Church is received by the parish community and the wider
Church. The RCIA is conducted under the guidance
and direction of the Diocese of South Carolina and our pastor, Father Pat
Stenson.
If
you are interested in participating in the RCIA, please contact the Parish
Office. If you know any potential
candidate for RCIA, please encourage that person to contact the Parish Office.

LOCAL NEWS
Meet the Author! A new historical
novel, The Red Priest’s Annina,
written by local author, former St. Michael’s Catholic School teacher, and PBOC
parishioner, Sarah Bruce Kelly, will be available for purchase after every Mass
on September 19th & 20th. The book tells the fascinating story of
Antonio Vivaldi’s most famous student, Annina Giro, and her struggle to break
into and survive the treacherous, cut-throat world of Venetian opera in the 18th
Century. Vivaldi, nicknamed the ‘Red
Priest” for his fiery red hair, was also well-known during his lifetime as an
opera impresario and master teacher. The author will personally sign your copy,
and a generous portion of each purchase will be donated to PBOC.
