AID TO OUR MILITARY: Your response in donating for our military care packages is needed to enable us to continue sending packages.   Troops  like to receive Pringles, chex mix, chips, granola bars, beef  jerky, cheeto’s,  peanuts, cheese and peanut butter cracker packs, etc. which can be in bags marked “Military”, and dropped off  at  parish office.  Our K of C. members have generously mailed  these packages.

It is that time again for us to begin to schedule liturgical ministers for the next quarter.  Please let your chairpersons know by February 15th of any dates you will be away in April, May and June.  You can do this by going to http://bpocchurch.com/schedule.asp and filling out the form.  Your information will automatically go to all of your chairpersons.  Chairpersons can pick up blank schedules in the office.

Come to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on first Friday, February 5th, and pray for a stronger belief in the reality of Christ’s presence before you.  At the Communion of Mass AND at Benediction of the Sacred Body of Our Lord, heaven truly comes to earth!  Come and unite in Adoration of Jesus with the hosts of angels and saints.

In order to ensure that the Blessed Sacrament does not remain alone, the following committees and organizations have been asked to have their members present at the designated times:

ADULT ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED

We are in need of a few adult altar servers.  The main need is for the Saturday evening Mass.  We will conduct a training program, and then have you serve with one of our regular servers.  If you are interested, please call the church office.

OUTREACH

 

fr_pat_b&wFr. Pat’s Lunch Kitchen continues to serve on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with people coming together to enjoy sharing meals and friendship.  Last Wednesday we served 117 people Baked Ham with Raisin Sauce, Au Gratin Potatoes, Ford Hook Lima Beans, Bread/Butter, Assorted Desserts and Sweet Tea.  On Thursday we served 79 people Chili Dog on Roll, Potato Chips, Garden Salad, Assorted Cakes & Pies and Sweet Tea. 

Saturday breakfast is served every Saturday morning, 9:00 to 11:00 AM.  Last weekend we served 67 people Pancakes, Bacon, Sausage, Fruit Cocktail, Cereal, and OJ/Coffee/Milk.  We thank everyone who helps to make these meals a pleasure for all who come.

 

TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY

The Outreach transportation ministry of Precious Blood will soon partner with the Neighbor to Neighbor program. This program is a part of Grace Ministries, which is a private not-for-profit organization headquartered in Conway serving the
elderly and chronically ill persons in Horry and
Georgetown Counties


Those currently in our transportation ministry and anyone already providing transportation assistance for neighbors and friends are encouraged to attend an information seminar on Wednesday, February 10, at 2:30 p.m. in classroom 1 at the parish life center. Please confirm your attendance by calling the church office at 237-3428.

Ladies – at First Friday Adoration on February 5th, from 3:00-4:00 PM, come spend one hour of quick devotion in the presence of God.  At 3:00 PM we will sing the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  Parishioners are invited to join us.  Afterwards we will go to McDonald’s for a cappuccino and apple pie. ·   Children’s Choir:  Tuesdays 4:00-4:30 PM.  We sing at one 10:30 Mass monthly.

Women’s club

 

Women's Club Grant Application Forms (Request for Proposals) for 2010 now are available to non-profit organizations seeking funds. These may be picked up in
the Parish Office in the PLC during regular business hours, or downloaded from the PBOC Website. The deadline for submission of requests is March 8, 2010.

"Puttin’ on the Glitz" - The 2010 Fashion Show will be held at Pawleys Plantation on Saturday, March 13, 2010. Fashions presented by Affordables, Christopher's, Isabella's, Pawleys Island Wear and Taylor's. Tickets may be purchased for $32 (includes a Hot Luncheon) by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope, with a check made out to PBOC Women's Club. DIOCESAN NEWS

 

Project San Pedro & Guatemala Medical Mission

Deacon Ed Peitler, Director of Catholic Charities, extends a most sincere "Thank You" to Fr. Pat for the opportunity to speak all masses last weekend and to all parishioners who participated in sponsoring a child for Project San Pedro.  A total of 39 children were sponsored.  The $25/month commitment means support for their educational and supplemental medical needs.  Also, several individuals in our parish expressed an interest in attending the next medical mission to San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala.  Interested in the medical mission were PBOC parishioners as follows:  two medical doctors; a dentist; two registered nurses; and two non-medical individuals.

ST. MICHAEL CATHOLIC SCHOOL will hold its 2010-2011 school year In-house and Open Registration during Catholic Schools Week beginning Monday, February 1st through Friday, February 5th for Grades PreK – 8th.  Registration hours will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day during that week.  A limited number of spaces are available for each grade.
